Rewind to 2013.
Our company began with two innovators from London with a simple vision to harness the latest technology and learning design to bridge the gap between education and employment. Upon recognizing this gap we asked ourselves, “How can we transform learning and training programs into more meaningful experiences that ultimately translate into accessible and necessary skills for use in the real world?”
Krishan and Carl gave up their day jobs to answer this simple question. Like any good startup story, we began by picking up two refurbished laptops and scrambling to pay rent in a building that was due for demolition. However, to the rest of the world we always aimed to look professional. By being authentic and exceeding expectations, we quickly progressed to harnessing our own spot at the Google Campus in London.
At the Google Campus, our small dedicated team started developing custom learning platforms, using open source technology created at Harvard and MIT.
Soon enough, with a rapidly growing base, the time was right to scale the team. Learning experience designers, content production experts, software developers and project managers were required to support the growth on both sides of the Atlantic. The company had become larger and more complex and a new CEO from Merrill Lynch was recruited to join our team. This new CEO, Simon Bryant, continued to grow the business in the Middle East, oversaw a rapid expansion of the Learning Laboratory in Cape Town, and secured strategic partnerships with two of the largest education technology companies in the world, Pearson and Instructure.
Fast-Forward to 2020.
We have built out our capacity through expansion to four continents- including offices in London, Salt Lake City, Oxford, Doha and Cape Town. As a truly global team with a diverse range of employee backgrounds and experience, our core delivery capabilities are growing stronger each and every day. With rapid growth over the years, our continued focus is creating opportunity for both the team and our clients through transformative learning experiences.
Right now we are continuing to live collectively through a challenging time in history and the enormity of what we are experiencing has hit us in different ways at different stages. As many of us have been facing extended lockdown periods we have managed to successfully transition to work from home across all three of our offices and prioritize the health and safety of each other.
We have partnered with our collective networks in order to extend our support to educators in the industry through such trying times. With our “Higher Education in a Post-COVID World” virtual conference we have been able to bring comfort and support to not just institutions, but PEOPLE in the world of higher education. By working together toward this cause to arm one other with information and shared experiences, we are all better prepared to pivot as the education market continues to evolve.
It is further important to acknowledge that we are living in a time that will define future generations. We will think back on these days as the world changes into something new and we will ask ourselves... “Did we do anything to help?” Through these challenging times, we have not only supported ourselves and our families but also stood united in solidarity to respect many of the emerging concerns for equality and justice around the world. As the world continues to evolve, we aim to stay involved in major concerns and happenings in order to better enable our teams to cope, adapt, and support the NEW NORMAL.
