About The University of Oxford CTL
The University of Oxford Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is a supportive program that supplies resources to all people who teach at the University of Oxford. In doing so, the CTL provides educators with accredited training programs in higher education, digital tools, consultations, and online resources in order to “promote a range of teaching practices that are relevant to Oxford's unique learning environment.” Out of 71 departments, 64 have programs of study on Canvas; out of 568 programs of study, 467 identified as using Canvas; out of 24,218 students, 21,859 identified as using Canvas or planned to move to Canvas with the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic.
Challenges
The CTL was tasked with providing inter-departmental support on a ‘Flexible and Inclusive Teaching (FiT)’ online Canvas framework for courses and programs rolling over or out for the new academic term. There was a need for extensive re-planning due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the resource profile and structure of the project team, with many of the Learning Technologists diverted from project delivery activities to business continuity work. To assist various departments with the rollover of their Canvas courses and introduce and assist in implementing a more ‘Flexible and Inclusive Teaching’ methodology, CTL required external support from Construct.
Successful implementation of the Centre For Teaching and Learning’s Flexible Inclusive Teaching (FiT) initiative.

Construct became embedded with the project team quickly and were productive as soon as the engagement commenced. This was crucial to the project given the changing landscape resulting from the pandemic and the demanding timeframes.

Results

Construct delivered all items on-time and in-budget despite the COVID-19 challenges and setbacks.

Construct assisted the CTL Learning Technologists by successfully restructuring their project process.

The FiT initiative has received extremely positive feedback from across the university since its implementation.

The Construct team were extremely professional, diligent and very personable to deal with throughout their time on the project. They could offer multiple skill-sets across their team and were very responsive to changing environments and requirements. Crucially, they were able to ‘hit the ground running’ and be productive very early in an engagement.
